Shane MacLaughlan of MasterPix has been happily photographing kids for
16 years! It was a natural extension of both his flourishing event
photography business and genial personality to expand his range of
service by opening a studio geared mainly to children and family
portraiture. The studio is located at 25 Second Street—in the same building
as the “new” chamber office. Over the years, Shane has masterfully
captured so many little smiles and big moments on film to the parents’
instant delight and their children’s future family albums.

His secret?

Shane smiles, like the big kid that he is, and says, “I act like a kid myself,
(which is very easy for me to do) and I put the kids (and parents!) at ease
with my animated, goofy comedic ways which ultimately brings out the child’
s natural mannerisms…and smile. Whether I am photographing a family
reunion, a child debuting in their first dance recital, a bride and groom’s
glow or a corporate meeting, I become a “chameleon” and my objective is
always the same: to bring out a natural smile from the heart in all my
subjects—no matter their environment”.

Gord Canning, President of Blue Mountain Resorts writes in a handwritten
thank-you note: “Thank-you very much for your excellent service at my
mother’s 80th birthday party. Your total commitment to the event was very
much appreciated.”

When nominated for 95.1, The Peak FM’s “Peak Performer”, Shane’s
nominators stated:
“His “pictures” are simple and truthful. His talent can be seen through the
smiles of young ones…while they sit in total glee…on Santa’s knee!”

Dr. Harry O’Halloran: Shane’s easy engaging manner brought ready smiles
to our kids’ faces when we had a family portrait done. Many people have
commented on how well the photo captures their enthusiasm and sense of
fun.

Carol Barrett, General Manager of the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce
adds, “MasterPix has been the official photographer of the prestigious
Business Excellence Awards three years in a row; photographing over 200
nominees in 2003 alone( mostly at their place of business) —all in just a
few short weeks! Shane is a passionate artist and consummate
professional who takes pride in the versatility of his work and keen attention
to detail and customer service. “You’ve never seem photography this
good…this fast” --is not just a tag line, it is the cornerstone of MasterPix!

Shane’s “focus” has always been innovation and customer service. As
Canada’s first on-site event photographers, MasterPix provides on-site
capture, processing and delivery, which allows one to leave any event, be it
Collingwood’s Dragon Boat Festival, a family reunion or a Royal Bank
conference with a photograph commemorating the festivities to take home
the very day of the event—very expedient and cost efficient—especially for
out of town guests!

Bigger than his amazing smile, is Shane’s generous heart. Over the years
he has donated his services to our community and beyond to such
worthwhile organizations as Ronald’s McDonald’s Children’s Charities,
Theatre Collingwood, Craigleith Depot Restoration Fund and the
Collingwood and Stayner Skating Clubs.

If a picture does say one thousand words, indeed, then I leave you with just
a few words from an enthusiastic groom: “ We entrusted MasterPix to
permanently capture on film, our special day. We were ecstatic with the
